IPSWICH WELCOMES BEAUTRIUMPH ON HER MAIDEN VOYAGE

The brand new cargo vessel, m.v. Beautriumph, has sailed from Ipswich on her first trans-Atlantic voyage, fully laden with new and second-hand vehicles destined for the Caribbean states of Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago.

Staff at the port – which is owned and operated by Associated British Ports (ABP) – loaded a variety of lorries, vans, tankers, cement mixers, tractors and combine harvesters.

ABP’s Port Manager for East Anglia, Alastair MacFarlane, was invited aboard by the ship’s Master, Captain Misha Schreuder, and, in keeping with the tradition of welcoming a vessel to a port for the first time, presented the Captain with a crystal decanter.

Alastair MacFarlane said: “We are pleased to welcome the Beautriumph to Ipswich, and look forward to her becoming a familiar sight in the port over the coming years.”

The Dutch-registered vessel will be one of two vessels employed by the Europe Caribbean Line, which calls at Ipswich every three weeks.
