 DRY BULKS
The handling of dry bulks is one of the mainstays of the ports industry. Dry-bulk cargoes which are handled by ABP’s ports on a regular basis include agribulks, animal feed, coal, cement, limestone, aggregates, powdered chemicals and ball clay, among others. At Humber International Terminal, located at ABP’s Port of Immingham, vessels carrying in excess of 100,000 tonnes of dry-bulks cargo, most of it coal, can be routinely handled, thanks to the terminal’s multi-purpose, deep-water riverside berths.
ABP’s ports offer its dry-bulk customers the most modern, high-quality storage and distribution facilities, as well as the efficient handling that usually result in fast turnaround.
Customers can expect the following from ABP’s ports:
- High-quality silos; open and covered storage facilities, approved by accrediting bodies including GAFTA and UKASTA
- Stock-identity preservation for the segregation and traceability of products
- Specialist handling equipment
- Dedicated and common-user facilities
- Expert assistance in developing and managing efficient supply chains
- Value-added services, including stevedoring, processing, weighing, storage and distribution
- Computerised stock-control systems
- Excellent road, rail and waterborne distribution networks leading to major UK industrial and agricultural markets
