CONTAINERS
A joint venture with DP World, DP World Southampton is the second largest container-handling facility in the UK, handling over half of Far East imports to the UK. Capacity is being expanded at Southampton to meet the rise in container volumes coming into the port.
Tilbury Container Services, which is jointly owned by ABP, DP World and Forth Ports, specialises in frozen and refrigerated cargoes and has long served as the UK hub for temperature-controlled food products.
The most advanced handling equipment – from ship-to-shore and mobile harbour cranes to straddle carriers – has been provided by ABP to ensure its container-handling ports meet the growth in deep-sea, coastal and short-sea containerised traffic.
