Associated British Ports (ABP) is the UK's largest and leading ports group.
ABP's 21 ports, together with the other transport-related businesses that constitute the ABP Group, form a UK-wide network capable of handling every conceivable type of cargo. ABP is backed by investment in modern facilities and equipment, and supported by experienced staff.
The Group's activities cover transport, haulage and terminal operations, ship's agency, dredging and marine consultancy. Each port also offers a well-established community of port-service providers.
| ABPmer AWARDED CONTRACT TO SUPPORT STRATEGIC SITING OF OFFSHORE WIND FARMS ABP Marine Environmental Research (ABPmer) has been awarded a contract to develop spatial information layers on the location and economic value of commercial fishing and shellfishing activities in UK waters. The work, funded by Collaborative Offshore Wind Research into the Environment (COWRIE), will primarily be used to support strategic siting assessments for Round 3 Offshore Wind Farms, but will also be of relevance for other marine renewable energy projects. |

| 19th June 2008 | IPSWICH WELCOMES LUXURY CRUISE SHIP The Port of Ipswich has played host to its first cruise-call in several years with the arrival of MS Hanseatic. The 123-metre vessel, operated by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, visited the town recently as part of a round-Britain cruise, particularly designed to show the German passengers some of the finest architecture and gardens in the British Isles. |
| 18th June 2008 | SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE PAYS MAIDEN VISIT TO CARDIFF The Spirit of Adventure sailed from the Port of Cardiff recently after her first visit to the city. At 140-m in length, and with six decks and 206 cabins, the cruise ship proved an impressive sight moored inside Cardiff’s Queen Alexandra Dock. |
| 18th June 2008 | LOWESTOFT HAVEN MARINA SAILS AHEAD WITH GROWTH Lowestoft Haven Marina (LHM), owned and operated by Associated British Ports (ABP), has completed its latest round of expansion with the development of a satellite site in the Port of Lowestoft’s Hamilton Dock, adjacent to the town centre. An investment of £500,000 has added 46 new berths, both for permanent moorings and for visitors. |
| 13th June 2008 | ABP SOUTHAMPTON SIGNS 25-YEAR, £6M AGREEMENT WITH HUELIN-RENOUF SHIPPING Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Southampton has signed a 25-year agreement with Huelin-Renouf Shipping, which will see the company relocate its UK operations from Flathouse Quay in Portsmouth to a purpose-built facility at Southampton’s Eastern Docks. |
